Munster has just released “Shutdown 2002 B.C.", the last record by the Neanderthals. These troglodites have unleashed all their talent to record one of the best albums of the last months. Eddie Angel and his buddies have hit the bullseye with an irresistible mix of garage and surf that would put even Osama Bin Laden to dance.

In spite of his work fronting the recomended Straitjackets, Eddie can’t hold his surfer vein and with his Strato he injects an energy that can’t help to bring Link Wray (“Joel Ride”) to ming, or some delicious beach atmosphere as in “Go Go Yamaha”, that reminds a Surfin’ Lungs with way more punch.

As good 50’s and 60’s music lovers, The Neanderthals have used a couple of classics from the essential compilation “Get a Board!” –the aforementioned “Go Go Yamaha” and “Go Mustang”, with a delicious Chuck Berry taste- aside from making their own of some other covers amongst which stands out “Phantom Dragster” from Bobby Fuller.
In any case, The Neanderthals play the role of a real King Midas of Rock, making everything they play turn into sonic gold. Their songs sound gloriously refreshing, be it more 50’s with a rockabilly flavour, garage with Farfisa (“Li’l XKE”) or winks to Jan&Dean. In short, this “Shutdown 2002 B.C." is a fucking party from the beginning to the end!
Recently, Eddie Angel has been playing Spain with the Rock-A-Hulas, a fantastic band from our country. We interviewed Eddie and very soon you will be able to read the result here!
