LOS MOCKERS - DO IT AGAIN! - (LP) |
The story of Los Mockers is truly unusual. Formed in Montevideo in 1963, they were one of the first Uruguayan R&B bands, recorded one LP and a couple of singles in Argentina in 1966 and broke up one year later, truncating a promising career when the band members had just turned 20...

 |
LYRES - LYRES LYRES (LP/CD) |
A sticker on this LP’s shockingly pink jacket proclaimed this new product to be “Lyres Lyres” All new for ‘87 Lyres Vol II ‘She Pays The Rent’. Yeah, wow, well... we were certainly more than ready! Upon examining the rear cover we find that the group’s personnel had shifted slightly, with Paul Murphy no longer in the drum seat, his place now taken by John Bernardo, also known as John Smith,...

 |
LYRES - ON FYRE (LP/CD) |
Like many young Europeans at the time, the first real taste I had of Lyres – aside from copious blastings of a second generation cassette tape of their exhilarating Dutch VPRO radio broadcast from 1983 – came when their debut long-player, the sensational “On Fyre”, was released the following year....

 |
ELS MASTURBADORS MONGOLICS - ELS MASTURBADORS MONGOLICS (LP) |
Els Masturbadors Mongòlics were one of the first punk bands from Barcelona, formed in 1977 by Lluis Miracle and with an ever-changing line-up which had guitarist Paco Martínez as its other constant member. Among the people envolved was Manel, later guitarist of Decibelios...
|
 |
DECIBELIOS - OI! (LP) |
Decibelios are one of the pioneers and main reference points when talking about Oi! music in Spain. Formed in 1980 in Barcelona, their beginnings mixed late 70s punk and hard rock but they gradually introduced ska elements into their sound, always accompanied by a combative and in-your-face attitude...

 |
TENSIÓN - Spanish Experimental Underground 1980-1985 (2XLP/CD) |
It happened during the peak of the media excitement over the countercultural movement known as Movida madrileña. That DIY spirit, that in our country was awakened later than in others due to the political ballast of nearly forty years of dictatorship, had but one stage where not all of its protagonists could fit...

 |
JUANITA Y LOS FEOS - PESADILLA ADULTA (LP+CD / CD) |
New album by Juanita y Los Feos, one of the most active bands in the thriving Spanish garage/punk/new wave scene. "Pesadilla adulta" is a major step forward for the band, who have been together since 2004. The sharp production takes JYLF to new wave and post-punk perfection in should-be-hits such as 'Autolesionarse', 'El final', '500 muertos' or 'Circo Roma', while maintaining the trace of their garage punk origins...

 |
ESKORBUTO - YA NO QUEDAN MAS COJONES... (12") |
Reissue of this 1986 cassette by Eskorbuto, one of the most influential punk bands in the Spanish and Latin American scenes. Its original release was part of their campaign to enter the Spanish general elections as a political party. They didn't achieve it but the songs here told more truths that any political speech...

 |
THE CRAMPS - FILE UNDER SACRED MUSIC-Early singles 1978-1981 (CD 10 x 7") |
I've no idea why The Cramps don't seem to figure in a lot of alleged histories of punk or just plain music in general. This could be down to them being utterly or unpigeonhole-able (is that even a word?) or just outright ignorance. Perhaps a bit of both but hey, let's not concern ourselves with that. The band changed the face of culture...

 |
TRAFFIC SOUND - VIRGIN (CD) |
Formed in 1968 by members of bands from Lima, Peru such Los Hang Ten's and Los Mad's and other musicians, Traffic Sound started as a covers band playing songs by The Doors, Cream and Jimi Hendrix. |
DMZ - RADIO DEMOS (LP) |
In the mid to late 70s, a seam of largely underground music got to percolating around the world to counteract the bombast-choked mainstream. This was before pub rock was tweaked to become punk. This bunch was one of those units from a time when everything was much less premeditated and I'm pretty sure no one had come up with the curse-word that is "spreadsheet". Sometimes the racket they made was as rough as a bear's behind but as you'll hear here, that just added to the explosive quality....
|
 |
LYRES - LIVE AT CANTONES, BOSTON 1982 (LP) |
The 1970s garage punk band from Boston, DMZ, had dissolved in a 1978 train wreck. Jeff "Mono Mann" Conolly, DMZ's inspired singer and songwriter, decided to take a Vox organ-driven direction next in his Lyres. Lyres evolved into an amorphous group of players moving in and out of the band over the years with certain mainstays like Paul Murphy and Ricky Coraccio, DMZ's drummer and bass player respectively, hanging in longer than most...

ESKORBUTO - ESKIZOFRENIA (LP/CD) |
We are proud to reissue "Eskizofrenia", Eskorbuto's first LP from 1985, one of the most influential punk album in the Spanish and Latin American scenes, which showcases what they are known for: radicalism, a self-taught style and crude lyrics. When asked to describe the album tracks in an interview at the time of its release, band member Iosu preferred instead to tell some anecdotes about the band and share his views on a few issues...

BARRENCE WHITFIELD & THE SAVAGES - SAVAGE KINGS (LP/CD) |
Back in 1983, Barry White (aka Barrence Whitfield) and Peter Greenberg were working at Nuggets, a used record store in Kenmore Square in Boston. TNT - MANIFIESTO GUERNIKA (LP) |
A key piece in the birth of Spanish punk, the core of TNT formed after Ángel Doblas and José Antonio García got together in the village of Huétor Tajar in 1978. At the same time, in Granada, Jesús Arias was feeling the loneliness of being the only The Sex Pistols fan around. When he found out that there was a punk band looking for members, he didn't hesitate to travel the 25 miles to Huétor Tajar...

THE PLASTIC PEOPLE OF THE UNIVERSE - MAGICAL NIGHTS (3xLP / 2xCD) |

Formed in 1968 with bands like The Velvet Underground, Frank Zappa and The Fugs as references, they progressively shifted towards more experimental music forms. In 1976 they were jailed by the Czechoslovak communist regime solely because they dared to play their music for a bunch of long-haired fans...

LOS SAICOS - ¡DEMOLICIÓN! THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS (6x7"box set/CD) |
With only six singles released between 1965 and 1966, and from an apparently remote place such as Lima, Peru, Los Saicos created a raw, wild and visceral sound, the Southern Hemisphere equivalent of the garage rock that was coming out of the US North West at the same time. CLAWHAMMER - DEEP IN THE HEART OF NOWHERE (CD/2xLP) |
This live album is a mighty sonic document of one of the most unclassifiable American bands of the 1990s. In the middle of a 1995 tour where their noise rock was often met by the indifference and incomprehension of audiences not ready for such full-on assault, Claw Hammer registered a show in Dallas that reveals the unique, wild and physical style only they possessed.

BEAST OF BOURBON - Low Life In Spain (Live in Madrid 2006) - DVD |
The Beasts of Bourbon are aptly christened.
They’ve been fermenting for almost as long as a decent bottle of their namesake. Their spirit marinated blasts of blues rock takes The Stooges prototype and rassles it to a sawdust covered floor. WAYNE COUNTY - WAYNE COUNTY AT THE TRUCKS!. LP/CD |
In 1974, as a music journalist and an David Bowie fan, I became aware of Wayne County in the pages of Hit Parader and Circus Magazine. While Bowie had seemed sexually threatening as Ziggy, he paled in comparison to Wayne County. Bear in mind, in 1974, the Pandora's Box of trans sexuality had not been opened in rock and roll. Lou Reed had dabbled in it, from a distance... |

THE FUZZTONES - BAD NEWS TRAVEL FAST - BRAND NEW MAN. 7" |
Re-edition of the first The Fuzztones single edited in 1984 by Zulu Records (Midnight Records). ‘This is one primitive, rockin' disc! The A-side is a wild, fuzzy rave-up, with great arrogant lyrics snarled out by Rudi: "Now don't you try to change me, I'll just string you along, sit back and enjoy the ride, tomorrow I'll be gone!" There's a great, throbbing riff and some berserk harmonica! Flip the disc and you get a story of lost love... no wimp ballads here though, just basic brutal trash! Great solo too! This cut was recorded live...in a cave, I guess!!!’ - FREAKBEAT |

The mex "answer" to THE MONKS !!! This wild trio from Mexico not only had the same name than their american legendary counterparts, they also dressed in monks´ cloths! And this is not all... cause their aberrant lyrics and sincopated primal rhythms make us think it´s not just coincidence or "evolutive convergence". Did Los Monjes ever heard about The Monks??? |

NIKKI SUDDEN - HANOI JANE/PRETTY LITTLE PRETTY. 7" |
"Hanoi Jane" is a T.Rex styled rocker from the ever unpredictable pen of Mr. Nikki Sudden, while "Pretty Little Pretty" is a Jimmy Reed patterned R&B shaker of a sort that while reflecting Reed's "Shame, Shame, Shame" and the Stones' "Little By Little", takes things up another notch. |
 |
THE EMBROOKS - 45 & HIGH TIMES. 2 X CD |
The legend and legacy of the Embrooks looms large here in far-off Mohair Sweets land. In fact it was back in the late 1990's through the most genteel, generous and one-of-a-kind diamond geezer that is Greg Smith of Dig the Fuzz Records fame that I first caught an earful of the three magical modsters known as the Embrooks. |
 |
THE NEANDERTHALS - IN SPACE. LP/CD |
"In Space" is the fourth album from the cave-dwelling kings of Garage and Rock&Roll, on which our favourite troglodites board a spaceship and transport us through 15 songs on a fantastic intergalactic journey where seeing a blue girl dancing the twist over the moon is completely normal.
|
 |
THE BEAST OF BOURBON - LOW LIVE. LP/CD |
In 1983, The Beasts of Bourbon's drunk-swamp-rock was formed as a side project in Sydney, but they grew to become a supergroup influencing and inspiring a new dangerous form of rock n roll within Australia and garnering praise and respect world wide for their infamous live performance; when they took to the stage, you knew you would get a great show, but what form this took... |
 |
LOS CHECKMATES - LO MEJOR DE...LP/10" |
The Mexican-based Los Checkmates, had a more organic, innate predilection to Western rock than most contemporaries in the South American garage scene . That's because it wasn't exactly a homegrown entity, but instead was a patchwork of locals and expatriates both, some of whom originated north of the Rio Grande in Canada and America. |
 |
LOS ELECTRONICOS - TRADICION EN TRANSICION. LP/10" |
Relying on the extreme richness of Columbian folkloric music, Los Electrónicos used the most up-to-date studio of their time to create a new approach to the songs they played: “Utter Respect” for the songs and mood was the general slogan; total rhythmic, tonal and instrumental LIBERTY was the general result. |
 |
LOS VIDRIOS QUEBRADOS - FICTIONS. LP/10" |
“Fictions” is the ONLY album that the band from Chile EVER recorded!Los Vidrios Quebrados (something like “The Shattered Glasses”) formed in 1965 by making their own instruments and playing at schools while they were in the Católica School of Laws. Odeon offered them a contract and they recorded their first single... |
 |
LOS MAC'S - KALEIDOSCOPE MEN. LP/10" |
Los Mac’s were formed in Valparaiso, Chile, in 1962 by the Mc Iver brothers. They soon moved to Santiago, where Willy Morales and Eric Franklin joined the band. “Kaleidoscope Men” (1967) was their third album and they consider it “The best psychedelic album ever produced in Chile”... |
 |
1974-75:LOS AÑOS QUE EMPEZAMOS A VIVIR PELIGROSAMENTE. 2x7" |
The 70s were a decade of transcendental changes in Spain, mainly the death of dictator Franco in 1975, the arrival of democracy, and the economical crisis. This is when BURNING are born, in Madrid´s working class neighbourhood of La Elipa. An explosive Rock band gathering the best essences of American and British Rock & Roll (Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, etc) which had a tremendous impact on Spain´s Rock scene... |

|
 |
LOS GRIMM - VIAJE EN LA ALFOMBRA MAGICA. LP 10" |
Los Grimm (The Grimms) was truly an atypical group within the national scene. These musicians from Madrid were authentic music lovers who had to combine their shows (packed by force with covers of familiar songs so the audience would dance) with musical interests that could only become a reality in their recordings, which never made the impact they undoubtedly deserved to make... |
 |
ATOM RHUMBA "CONCRETE MIXER " CD / LP 100 COPIES |
"Backbone Ritmo" was not only the record that got Atom Rhumba to their musical highest point to date, it also got them far away: from any Spanish village and city in an extensive tour, to France and Japan, where critics and listeners were enthusiastic about the basque band... |
 |
EL AVIADOR DRO - LA CHICA DE PLEXIGLÁS. 2x7" |
1976 - A bunch of young students decide to develop their cultural interests in the Ateneo Libertario de Mantuano, an old fascist headquarters turned into squat. They share a common interest for sci-fi, futurism, constructivism, dadaism, space, science, etc. Among these adolescents we find Servando Carballar, Alberto Florez, Andres Garcia, Manuel Guio, Arturo Lanz, Alejandro Sacristan... |
 |

 |
NIKKI SUDDEN - TREASURE ISLAND. 2XLP (220Gr) |
Nikki Sudden: a rooster/shag-haired rock 'n' roll dandy, equal parts Marc Bolan, Ronnie Wood, and Johnny Thunders; co-founder (with late sibling Epic Soundtracks) of '70s avant-punks Swell Maps; a member of the debauched Kevn Kinney/Pete Buck "rolling asunder revue"; and a much-loved folk/glam/rock troubadour, both solo and with the Jacobites... |
 |
THE
EMBROOKS - YELLOW GLASS PERSPECTIONS. CD/LP(220GR) |
"Fans of The Creation,
Wimple Winch and Q65 will get a charge out of The
Embrooks. This is some of the coolest mod-psych rock &
roll I've heard from a new band in years. Recorded by Liam Watson
at legendary Toe Rag studios, England's Embrooks deliver a hip shaking,
mind melting slab of pure action!" - Merle Knurling. |

 |
LOS
HOLY'S - SUEÑO SICODELICO. LP 10" |
If in Peru, Los Saicos
are a razor-sharp black star of the subterranean heavens, Los
Holy’s are a blazing constellation. They could be
considered the first local psychedelia movement of the mid-60s:
they were capable of experimenting with compositions and sounds
beyond the New Wave beat melodies common at the time, and all of
this while remaining a basically instrumental band... |
 |
THE
NEW JUGGLER SOUND - TROUBLE CHILDS. LP 10” |
New Juggler Sound,
Laghonia, Smog, and the first We All Together (later on some of
the members reunite in the 80s) constitute the only rock saga in
Latin America. With 40 years of permanence during which, although
they have had their ups and downs, they always maintained a solid
musical coherence oriented towards what today is defined as power
pop... |
 |
LOS SHAKERS - ROMPAN TODO!!.
10" LP) |
Everybody KNOWS about the Latin
American best Beatle-esque band formed in the 60's... What you can
find in Romperlo Todo is their Break It All only U.S. album, which
came out in 1966!!! This album wasn't released in Argentina, but
instead only in the United States, Australia and some other English-speaking
countries. Technically it's impeccable, with stereo sound of a high
quality containing songs from the first album and some non -album
songs much better recorded and edited that the "official"
albums.... |
 |
LOS
WALKERS - WALKING UP WHIT... 10 "LP |
This is a psychedelic masterpiece,
astonishing and exquisite psychedelic trip highly influenced by
the Rolling Stones' Their Satanic Majesties..., incredibly good.
Featuring the ex-Mockers Polo "Salvaje"
on the songwriting, lead volcals and psyched-out guitar arangements.
This album is a prime example of the so-called “Rioplantense
Psychedelia”. And it’s officially available again for
the very first time.
|
 |
LOS YAKI - EL SONIDO MAS AGRESIVO.
10
"LP |
A collection of the most agressive
moments of Los YAKI, probably the most popular 60's band in Mexico
that recorded more than 10 albums(!). The selection includes Troggs,
Kinks, Stones, Little Richard, Human Beingz, Deep Purple (Hush!)
plus some originals... All the way through in a very similar ways
Mitch Ryder's Detroit Wheels... Mastered from original tapes that
will really turn you on into this very agressive mexican garage
band. |
 |
LOS GATOS SALVAJES - WILD
R&B BEAT FROM ARGENTINA. 10
"LP |
An Argentinian beat band from Rosario
fromed by Ciro Fogliatta -who had previously been in The Wild Cats-.
They recruited Litto Nebbia as their vocalist and he persuaded them
to move away from performing rock 'n' roll covers to writing their
own material and singing it in Spanish. Their debut single, La Respuesta
was the first beat single sung in Spanish. Their album was sung
entirely in Spanish. Ten of the twelve songs were penned by Nebbia.
Musically, it's very diverse. Quien Vendrá Por Mi? is based
on the riff of The Kinks' You Really Got Me. There's quite a bit
of Merseybeat, represented by tracks like Dejame, Dejame, Lo Que
Más Me Gusta A Mi, or Harás Lo Que Te Pida and En
Tu Corazón. It includes their beaty first single 'A' side
La Respuestra and a spattering of R'n'B and blues numbers. The band
re-emerged later as Los Gatos. |
 |
THE
PRISIONERS - THE WISERMISERDAMELZA & 7. (2X10") |
In the early 80s the Medway sound
was born with a flurry of records from The Milkshakes and The Prisoners.
The Prisoners produced a tough version of the sound of the 60s played
with great enthusiasm and lots of GoGo. The Prisoners are the definitive
psychedelic garage band, clearly influenced by the likes of the
Small Faces, and cited as an influence for The Charlatans and -although
not cited so openly- the entire brit pop and acid jazz scenes. |
 |
ATOM
RHUMBA - GONE (REMIX). CD/LP MAXI |
A spicy tidbit for fans... Or a
new dimension to the sound of the best Basque band.
Celebrating the release of their amazing fourth LP “Backbone
Ritmo”, Munster releases in CD and vinyl this “Gone”
single, a song which represents rather perfectly the spirit and
indeed the name itself of “Backbone Ritmo”: as Rober!
(guitar and vocals) himself says, “a song to dance with, twisting,
contorting. throwing your bones out of their joints”. And
if the original song is like this, wait ‘til you hear the
remixes!!

 |
BORED!
- NEGATIVE WAVES LP 220 Gr. (BANG!) |
To celebrate the 15th
anniversary of the first edition of this album, BANG! RECORDS is
proud to reissue BORED’s “Negative Waves”.If
this album can claim the title of the biggest brutality ever to
come out from Australia, a chaotic orgy of feedback, reverb, fuzz,
wha-wha and any other wild sound, it has anyway been remastered
by the band’s mastermind Dave Thomas in order to get an even
wildest and tightest sound than the original release...
|
 |
HUGO
RACE + TRUE SPIRITS - RACEREADY GO / LOVES THE RAIN 7" (BANG!) |
| It is a great honour
to release this exclusive single for BANG! RECORDS from HUGO
RACE & THE TRUE SPIRIT. HUGO RACE keeps his characteristic
intimist side in this single, bordering with the most sinister madness.
A style he has been perfectly doing for more than 20 years in his
native Melbourne, where he started with PLAYS WITH MARIONETTES,
following with the legendary THE WRECKERY (a clear reference point
for Jon Spencer), later on with ROWLAND S. HOWARD and as a temporal
member of NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS...
|
 |
HOSS
- A NICE QUIET CHAT 7” (BANG!) |
| HOSS
are here! This seminal Melbourne band presents us their brand new
exclusive single! They had not recorded any new songs since 2000
(and their latest record wasn’t even seen), but here they
come again! Joel Silbersher (GOD, HOSS, SABOTAGE, TENDRILS, MELONMAN,
DARK HORSES...) has temporarily abandoned his friends Tex Perkins
and Charlie Owens from his band DARK HORSES in order to record this
new single with two absolutely stunning songs...
|
 |
DEVASTATIONS
- THE LOW ROAD / TOMORROW IS A LONG TIME. 7" (BANG!) |
| Listening to THE DEVASTATIONS’
music is like having a walk through the darkest side of the heart
of Australia. The isolation, the bad feelings and sorrows of growing
up and living in such a devastated city as Melbourne is (which Powder
Monkeys called the “lost city”), they all arise in a
clear, expressive and sad way through the grooves of their album.
Growing up also with the music of THE BIRTHDAY PARTY, BEASTS OF
BOURBON or HUGO RACE...

 |
ATOM
RHUMBA - BACKBONE RITMO. LP/CD |
Atom
Rhumba have made it! The "most promising band"
label with which so many media have tagged the Basque band, picturing
them as "one of the best bands in Spain" ever since the
times of Hormonal Riot (1997)- all of that is obsolete with this
album. Atom Rhumba are not "promising" anymore. They are
the raw, palpitating and infectious reality. Backbone Ritmo is the
proof that they have overcome...
|
 |
THE
DEVASTATIONS - THE DEVASTATIONS. LP/CD |
"I heard this
for the first time in Australia. Within five minutes I had tears
streaming down my face. It is one of the most emotionally accessible
albums. It gives me feelings I can tap into outside of myself because
I can’t quite tap into what is going on inside. That for me
is most precious."
Karen O. ('Yeah Yeah Yeahs)

SPACELINES
- SONIC SOUNDS FOR SUBTERRANEANS. LP/CD |
Stooges?
Velvets? Stones? Close and compared to any of these bands (their
favourites included also Cramps, MC5 and Suicide), Spacemen
3 were one of the most revolutionary UK guitar bands, whose
influence is still being felt today -and whose reputation as one
of the leading innovators of the alternative scene keeps growing.
|
 |
MULETRAIN
- DEMOLITION PREACHIMG. LP/CD. (Beat Generation) |
After Aerobitch (the most internationally acclaimed
and well-known punk-rock band to come out from Spain in the latest
years) came to an end, three of their members decided to recruit
a new drummer from the hardcore Canary Islands band Milk Fiction,
and start a new musical experience...
|
 |
THE
NEW STRYCHNINES - THE NEW ORIGINAL SONIC SOUND.
CD (R&R INC) |
In
June 2000 the Seattle Experience Music Project managed to put together
a show which billed many now legendary '60s Northwest garage bands
such as the Wailers and the Kingsmen. Still, they couldn't get what
is probably the best of them all, THE SONICS, to
reunite. So, Scott Mccaughey (Minus 5/Young Fresh Fellows/REM) started
to get an all-star Sonics fans´ band together, so that they
could perform at the show and represent the original and almighty
Sonics. Boooom!! THE NEW STRYCHNINES were born.

 |
DEKE
DICKERSON AND THE
ECCO-FONICS - MR.ENTERTAINMENT. CD (R&R INC) |
What
you will find in this exclusive CD is a breathtaking selection of
rarities, alternate takes, demos, and unreleased songs put together
by "Mr.Entertainment" (Deke Dickerson)
himself. A sizzling compilation of the most exciting sounds Deke
gets from his vintage guitars and amps. Songs you´ll probably
never get the chance to get anywhere else because they see the light
for the first time now, or because they are extremely rare (limited
edition fanclub singles, taken from unknown compilations, etc.).
|
 |
THE
WOOGLES - RAGGED BUT RIGHT. CD . (R&R INC) |
Ragged
But Right, the Woggles´ seventh long-playing release,
is a searing testament to indie/punk/ garage power. It comes wrapped
in vintage rags, soaked in gasoline, and ignited with the firebrand
energy that only honest sweat can create. It's a record that shakes
a tambourine in one hand and a clenched fist in the other, with
its middle finger extended defiantly at the pre-processed, instantly
obsolete, ProTools-enhanced effluvia churned out by the remnants
of the corporate music world.

 |

are too old for Sum 41 but too young to grow a ponytail, check out
The Rubber City Rebels!" --Amplifier (#36,
Bob Mallon). Munster Records Vinyl version exclusive for the world.

THE
REAL KIDS – THE NEW ROSE YEARS. 2xLP 220 Gr. |
| The
REAL KIDS were a powerful combination of pop melodies, 50s-style
rock and roll riffs and 70s punk energy. A few of their songs rank
with power pop's all time greatest ("All Kindsa Girls" !!!),
and at their peak they were the best pop band to ever come from Boston.
They were also one of the best US bands of the 1977-1982 explosion,
with a first album that everybody considers a legendary masterpiece... |

DOWNLINERS
SECT. The Country Sect. LP 220 Gram.
DOWNLINERS SECT. The Sect. LPX. |
One
of the best first wave white R&B British bands (along with the ROLLING
STONES, YARDBIRDS, THEM...) ever. And if there's one record that truly
encapsulates the spirit of the Downliners Sect and their pure, raucous,
unaffected approach to rhythm and blues, it's their first album
THE SECT. Released in December 1964, THE SECT oozed Punk
R&B cool from the black grooves of its vinyl to its instantly arresting
cover shot... |
| THE
DOWNLINERS SECT - THE ROCK SECT’S IN (LP)
Released
in April 1966, THE ROCK SECT’S IN was, as
Terry describes it “a hotch-potch,” there were some
superb new songs mixed in, and the record as a whole was a return
to the more earthy, rockin’ sounds the band understood best.
The handful of ‘50s rock’n’roll numbers scattered
through the rest of the material may have been backdated but they
had raw qualities that were in short supply on the British pop scene
at the time. “It was a reaction to the music going soft,”
explains Don Craine. “It was going more back to the purity
of when the R&B thing started with the good rock music that
got rid of the rubbish that was going around at the time.” |
| THE
DOWNLINERS SECT - INSECTICIDES (LP)
This
fourth Munster Records LP gathers up a variety
of stray tracks from the Downliners Sect's 1960s back catalogue,
including several non-LP singles, B-sides, EP tracks and two songs
from an acetate of their very first recording session. Probably
the rawest side of the rawest R&B band of the time! |
