| “The
music contained in Naked Blues exhudes heat, humidity,
the suffocating, maddening sensuality of the delta. It’s the
perfect vehicle for the strongly sexual universe depicted in the lyrics.
The rythm, the stops, the shaking achieved by the mix of the instruments,
the tone and inflexions of Paulo Furtado’s voice; depict in
technicolor the provocative situations he sings about. And everything
in Naked Blues revolts around sex: burning, desperate, one-night-only.”
- Raquel M. Pinheiro This
is a Mid-fi , uncut & fucked up blues record for a mature audience.
Eight originals by Mr Tiger Man (Paulo Furtado)
and two covers (Bo Diddley´s "Mannish Boy" and
Hasil Adkins´s "She Said"), are embers
to a bonfire, dressed as tales of sex, crime and damnation spat
out from this rock´n´roller´s soul in the good
storyteller´s style. The Legendary Tiger Man "one man
show" is one of several characters created in Paulo Furtado´s
mind (ex-Tedio Boys and leader of Wray Gunn) to fight his natural
hyper activity. His way through Mississippi, along with the multiple
tours of the Tedio Boys throught the land of Uncle Sam, worked as
inspiration for his project in which Paulo Furtado, loaded with
guitar, kazoo, bass drum and hi-hat, reinvents the Delta Blues tradition.
The CD version comes with a Super8 videoclip of the title song. |
