25 years after they broke every rule of punk and rock music, The Rebels rear its ugly head one more time to show today's crop of newbie rockheads what guts, glory and integrity really stand for: Pierce My Brain is the brand new killing album from Ohio’s veterans, 22 years after their first LP!

The Rubber City Rebels were among the first crop of bands to play punk rock music before it even had a name. Along with The Dictators, Rocket From the Tombs, The Ramones, and others they wrote the book that Malcolm MacLaren carefully studied before putting together his own UK model, The Sex Pistols. While most Ohio punks veered toward arty nihilism and quirky pop induced punk (Pere Ubu, Devo...), the Rebels decided to just turn it up and aim for the throat. Like most of their fellow pioneers, The Rubber City Rebels never really achieved a great deal of commercial success.

Bands like Turbonegro, the Candy Snatchers, the Raydios, the Bobby Teens, the Scream, Sister Goddam, and Jackpot paid them tribute by covering their tunes and when the band recently played some gigs, they were floored by just how many young fans they had. "These young punks were coming up to us and giving us the 'we're-not-worthy' treatment," said Rod Firestone, Rebels’ frontman. "They treat us like I’d treat Blue Cheer or something. It was freaky."

Serving up 12 courses of pure punk fortitude, The Rebels keep it's signature over the top guitar assault intact with adrenaline soaked tunage like "I Don't Wanna Be a Punk No More", the humorous analysis of punk identity that makes a profound statement while poking fun. A favorite has got to be the Metallica edged rocker "Your Television Lies", a full throttle guitar rocking soon to be punk classic. There’s also a powerful cover of Music Machine’s “Talk Talk” and the homage to Stiv Bators “Dead Boy” (Bators was not only a huge fan of the band, but also gave them their name). The question is: why did it take so long to come out with such a necessary and important punk album?
