PHIL AND THE FRANTICS 'S/T' (LP) (10")

Known to two entire generations of American 60s garageband fans in the last two decades, PHIL AND THE FRANTICS gained their widespread notoriety by being one of the bands to have their 'regional' (and now rare as hens teeth) 60s release, "I Must Run" included on probably one of the best known 60s garage compilations, Pebbles Vol. 1 (first released in 1978!)...

In 1980, an entire PHIL & THE FRANTICS album was released on the Voxx label as a vinyl LP. Our CD release of PHIL AND THE FRANTICS includes some of the same tracks, but has been remastered for supreme sound quality, off of all the original '64-'68 master tapes! This collection of garage music includes the above mentioned track and it's original flip-side, "Pain," two of the best 'minor key' 60s punkers ever released! Quoting the opening paragraph from the liner notes, penned by Arizona music expert John P. Dixon; "Arizona isn't given credit enough as one of the hotbeds of '60s rock, yet it had a very active scene for a region of it's size, and produced a handful of the most legendary acts of the era. From the desert came The Grodes, The Dearly Beloved, The Spiders, The Superfine Dandelion and Phil And The Frantics. Their haunting adaptation of the British sound in "I Must Run" and others put them at the top of the Phoenix scene for a couple of years."
