FULSON, LOWELL 'Tramp / Make A Little Love' (7") (Last copies!!)
“Tramp” has been reviewed in the September issue of the MOJO MAGAZINE, as “a pre-hip hop MASTERPIECE”... From this song came others like “The Champ” (Mohawks) and it’s been a major influence to everyone who has heard it. As a bluesman, Fulson’s chart topping days were believed to have passed, but he soon found himself high up in the R&B TOP 10 when “TRAMP” was released in 1966. Within a year, Otis and Carla had repeated the feat with their own cover of the song, and in 1968 The Mohawks completed the trio of highly sampled takes. All versions have their fans among the hip hop fraternity, and the Fulson version has been sampled by the likes of CYPRESS HILL (How I Just Could Kill A Man), EPMD (Rampage), De La Soul (Let, Let Me In), Salt & Pepa (Tramp) or Stetsasonic (No BS Allowed).
