Brian Henry Hooper (BEASTS OF BOURBON, KIM SALMON & SURREALISTS, VOYEURS) shocks us again with this gem in the most pure tradition of Australian R´N´R. The Butcher Shop was the project developed by Tex Perkins, at the same time as Beasts Of Bourbon, in the late 80s.

In this band, the artist showed his wildest, brutal and sonic side, walking amont swamp blues and grunge (before the name "grunge" existed for music)

In this sonic adventure Mr. Tex Perkins was surrounded by several musicians, such as people from Lubricated Goat, Beasts Of Bourbon (Spencer P. Jones) or the American musician Kid Congo Powers (The Gun Club, The Cramps, Nick Cave & Bad Seeds...) among others.

Here you will find, among other wonders, the original version of the song which became a hit afterwards with Beasts Of Bourbon, "hard for you".

This edition compiles the LP and EP released by this band in between 1988 and 1990, and which are totally impossible to find nowadays. These 15 tracks are all the band recorded.

For the first time Bang! Rcds releases a non Australian artist. This is DIMI DERO INC. from Paris, France.

The reason for it is very simple, DIMI DERO INC. is the personal project of this creative, innovator, multi faced artist Dimi Dero (producer, multi instrumental musician, song writer etc) who has known how to gather in this record all his emotions and demons.

Think of a mix between THE SCIENTISTS, THE BIRTHDAY PARTY and EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN, with the unique personality of this man/band and that special French touch which might remind you a bit of the old DUM DUM BOYS records.

“This isn't really an outtakes or b-side record...its just that when we recorded ‘Here Come The Lies’ and ‘Wait Long By The River’ we did them six months apart and we had a huge pile of songs....those two records were both really long and we had to ditch some of the stuff we were doing to keep them reasonably timed....most of the stuff is recorded straight up live in the studio....so basically if I fucked up a lyric it didn't go on the record. we didn't have the time or money or patience to correct anything....all I can remember about these sessions is just being tired and drunk and hoarse and broke and way too loud for a recording studio...it seems like 20 years ago. But I really like this record...it’s got everything I like about rock n roll in there so I’m totally cool with it..... even though it's a little messy and rushed. lots of people think we are shit and I hope this makes them think we are even worse after hearing it cause we are just doing our thing and doing a thorough job of it......I hate to sound trite but this is what we think punk sounds like you know??? and any band worth anything knows that you are just there take what you think is most valuable in good music and then show it to everybody... kinda pervert it a little to suit... then you try to enjoy it more than everyone else”.  Gareth Liddiard (Guitar & Vox)

Ian Rilen would have achieved lasting notoriety if his only claim to fame was as the founding songwriter for Rose Tattoo who left because the bands choice of music wasnt hard enough.

Then he had to go and form X and unleash a strain of high-energy music so visceral and basic that it almost defies description.

For three decades, clutching only a bunch of street-level songs and a weathered bass or six-string guitar for protection, the mercurial Rilen has been an indestructible figure on the Australian music scene.

He's now charting his own unique musical path, with solo shows and gigs fronting his raw yet melodic long-time band, The Love Addicts.

Originally from Perth and a founding member of the Drones, James McCann has created a record that seamlessly encompasses the whole Australian independent sound from beginning to end. Like a trip through the swamp starting in folky wandering ballads, continually growing and winding until reaching the wildest and most sonic sounds reminiscent of the Scientists.

"the floating life" is pretty much a solo album from a truly independent and humble underground legend of the Australian music scene, Stewy 'Leadfinger' Cunningham.

Over the last 16 years Leadfinger has done his time and written many awesome songs for great Australian rock and power-pop bands like Brother Brick, Asteroid B-612, The Proton Energy Pills, The Yes-Men and Challenger-7 but with "the floating life" he set out to do something totally different - all by himself - writing, playing, engineering, recording, producing and mixing 'the floating life" from start to finish by himself at his own dodgy home studio under his house on the southern edge of Sydney. The result is an album that is definitely unlike anything else you are likely to hear this year, bluesy and dark and at times electric with high energy and powerful riffs, it veers into the melodic territory of power-pop but with a noisier, harder edge...still with lots of guitars and great songs but with a fresh take on Aussie underground rock'n'roll. "the floating life" sits on the brilliant side of lo-fi and has been described as equal parts Westerberg, Chilton, Kuepper and Hitchcock with Fred 'Sonic' Smith along for the ride on lead guitar!!!!! Stand out tracks are the driving mayhem of "Edge of Suburbia", the 4/4 rockin fun of "Thin Lizzy' (think of The Replacements - Alex Chilton but this one is for Phil Lynott) and the stark acoustic power of "a floating life" - a song inspired by the work of Australian underground poet, John Forbes. “DEVIL AND DAUGHTER” is the debut album from Melbourne-based music artiste STU THOMAS (known the world over for his bass work with Kim Salmon & the Surrealists, Kim Salmon & The Business, The Scientists, Dave Graney & Clare Moore Featuring The Lurid Yellow Mist, The Brass Bed, Luxedo and more…).

Under the influence of writers, poets and revolutionaries,  Stu T offers a rich musical journey through a darkly compelling world that’s bursting at the seams with an unholy grace.

A world of menacing glances, seedy bars, red wine and heavy breathing over a dodgy phone line. Think of the soundtrack to a 50’s film noir outing, with Stu T as detective, inhabiting scenes full of intrigue, cigarette smoke, the wife of another man and heavy consequences,  all played out in saturated black and white.

Deep-well baritone vocals and warm, nocturnal undercurrents recall Serge Gainsbourg and Johnny Cash, alongside twisted Lee and Nancy duets for a new generation.
