It’s been 4 years since the last time these australian old school rockers let us enjoy some new stuff. They haven’t stopped playing live (from time to time they did some club of their natal Sydney and even less often they played Melbourne), but ever since their wonderful “Reading Between The Lines” they hadn’t released anything. So now, and with BANG!’s usual politics of recovering dark gems, we present you with a new exclusive single, limited to 500 copies, in which are included two lost songs from their best period. These two songs (one of their own, “Always got Something to Lose”, and the other, “Murder City Revolution”, a demolishing HUMPERS cover) were recorded in 1995 and 1996 in U.S.A and Australia respectively. Here you can find the latest recording Stewart “Leadfinger” Cunningham (PROTON ENERGY PILLS, YES-MEN, BROTHER BRICK, ROLL CAGE...)  ever made with ASTEROID B612, just before he got into a (real) fight with the band’s leader, Johnny casino, in the U.S.

Here we are facing a totally atipic band. The kind of band which starts in some Sydney bar, when a few friends gather to get drunk, dinning at a Japanese restaurant, create bands or even get into a studio to record. For example Los Dingos. Gorka Secta was spending a few days in Australia, and one of  those nights Kent Steedman (Celibate Rifles) proposes the idea of creating a band and getting into the studio with a few more friends such as Johnny Casino (Asteroid B612), Mick Poole and Tim Chillingworth. This is the way they got into the studio, composed, recorded and mixed two tracks in one evening. Mastered by Celibate Rifles sound engineer Rick O Neal at Turtlerock studio. What you have is here is two shots of pure Aussie high energy, made in Sydney.

A side: Angel, is a psichedelic rock cut in the way of the New Christs, while B side: Waiting, has the stamp on of those classical punk rock hymns by Lovelock-Steedman.

Spilled Your Pint, the new single from north London’s finest, The Flaming Stars, was  recorded April-May 2004 at the legendary Toe Rag Studios. The A Side – a mixture of pounding drums, footstomping and shouting  - is taken from their new album, Named & Shamed, while the B Side, Sixty Nine, is only available on this single. Since the band first walked into Toe Rag studio in Shoreditch in 1995 to cut their debut single, they’ve played all over the UK, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Greece, America and Japan and racked up seven John Peel Sessions.

HOSS are here! This seminal Melbourne band presents us their brand new exclusive single! They had not recorded any new songs since 2000 (and their latest record wasn’t even seen), but here they come again! Joel Silbersher (GOD, HOSS, SABOTAGE, TENDRILS, MELONMAN, DARK HORSES...) has temporarily abandoned his friends Tex Perkins and Charlie Owens from his band DARK HORSES in order to record this new single with two absolutely stunning songs. A song of their own whose freshness and compositive & playing perfection will surprise everyone, and a KINKS cover in the B-Side which won’t let you move out of the sofa.

ANOTHER AUSTRALIAN JEWELL COURTESY OF BANG! RECORDS. In this ocasión BANG! RCDS is proud to present a single with the best live recording ever by THE POWDER MONKEYS. This dareful afirmation is not done by us. These are textual words by John Nolan (POWDER MONKEYS, BORED!), as he explains himself in the inner part of this gatefold single. He says as well that this is his personal tribute to his late friend and  co-leader of the band, Tin Hemensley (POWDER MONKEYS, BORED!, GOD). It was recorded in Melbourne in 1995, at this "damned" band´s best moment, which was one of the most important references to the Scandinavian R´N´R scene which succeded a few years later.

It is a great honour to release this exclusive single for BANG! RECORDS from HUGO RACE & THE TRUE SPIRIT. HUGO RACE keeps his characteristic intimist side in this single, bordering with the most sinister madness. A style he has been perfectly doing for more than 20 years in his native Melbourne, where he started with PLAYS WITH MARIONETTES, following with the legendary THE WRECKERY (a clear reference point for Jon Spencer), later on with ROWLAND S. HOWARD and as a temporal member of NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS, finally getting to his most personal project and his band for the latest 15 years: THE TRUE SPIRIT.

This is what Mr. Race says in relation to the songs of this single, his latest and quite possibly the best recording of his long career:

“READY TO GO is something like, I’ve got my shoes on, I’m leaving. Watch how I dissapear... READY TO GO was recorded live in Australia in a filthy club just by the sea in St. Kilda, in a hot summer night. I always wanted to release this song in a vinyl single, because of THAT sound. 3:30 minutes in the old 60’s style, through a glorious reverb radio tunnel... we were looking for the mirage-like Spectorsound, the FAT SOUND, that sound making so much sense coming off the muscle of the needle, the groove cut DEEP spreading simple messages like YOU GOT TO SHINE, SHINE A LITTLE EVERYDAY, girls looking in the mirror room like the RONETTES and the CRYSTALS, spinning at 45 RPM, translated to the trance pulse of the TRUE SPIRIT lost in rock’n’roll with their loose cannon synths and diabolic trombones and everybody kickin in the chorus like LSD is dead but NOT FORGOTTEN.

MICK HARVEY (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Birthday Party, etc) presents this new solo project where he develops his personal hunger for rock´n´roll.
