Based in Bilbao the band formed six years ago, when POP CRASH COLLAPSO split after a brief but intense existance. SAFETY PINS were born in CHOCKABLOCK, where they started exploring their abrassive and punkier instincts recording a series of songs that eventually got released as their “Steel Knives & Razor Blades” debut album (1998 MR Ref. 134). To talk about their sound would be like taking Punk back to basics, looking further than the 1977’ roots, and getting closer to the vandalism of bands like POISON IDEA or THE DWARVES. The line up used to change often from the begining, keeping MIKEL BIFFS and MARTINI as the former regular members and replacing drummers and guitar players every now and again. SAFETY PINS were always good at getting things done their own way, sticking to their DYI beliefs. They have been on the road up and down the country, sharing stages with bands like Turbonegro, Ncc, Señor No, Los Perros, Sin City Six, Hot Dogs...
