Legendary early studio, rehearsal and live recordings from 1985-1988 by this band from Mallorca. The best punk recorded  in Spain in those years. Cerebros Exprimidos are considered the missing link between early 80s LA punk and the Spanish scene that would produce bands such as La Perrera, NCC, Aerobitch, Muletrain, etc.

The Cerebros story begins around September '84, when I left my previous band, Virus, and got together with guitarist Jordi Vidal in order to start a punk band, which we named in the punkest way we could think of: Cerebros Exprimidos (Squeezed Brains).  We soon got going, looking for people to play with, and it was Jordi who introduced me to Juanmi (guitar) and Miguel "El Loco" (bass). We tried several drummers but nobody seemed right. In December Jordi left the band and we decided to carry on with only one guitar player. In January '85, we finally found our first official drummer, "Tino", and two months later we started to play live. Our first gig was at Sa Faixina Square, in Palma, Majorca, around March '85, and we only played half a song as we got thrown out by some angry heavy metallers. We carried on playing all year and creating a punk-rock scene that shook up a city that seemed totally dead. We've recovered some rehearsals and live tracks from that year as the only document of the original Cerebros Exprimidos.

In January '86, Loco left the band and one month later Juan Pedro joined as bass player - he was also playing in a punk band called Ruina Social.  Around this time Juanmi started to incorporate rockabilly influences into our music.  At the end of the year we had evolved towards a more garage sound, with 70s punk influences but with our very own style.

In May '87 Tino left the group for work reasons and we welcomed Churu (ex-Ruina Social), with whom we recorded a demo in August, completely live, for a radio show. That's my favourite Cerebros recording and it clearly shows our strong live set from that year.

Things were going the right way. In September '88 we entered the studio again and recorded another demo, which had excellent reviews. We finished second in Palma's pop-rock competition and recorded a track, 'No lo vi venir' for its compilation LP, which became the first released track by the band. In early '89 we gave our first shows in mainland Spain, in Barcelona.

Back in Majorca, we got a call from Madrid; Munster wanted a track for a compilation. Another call, this time a guy called Juan Hermida, about recording a mini-LP and playing a few dates in Madrid. All expenses paid, so we didn't hesitate to go over there. We recorded six tracks in Duplimatic Studios in April 1989. The mini-album came out on Romilar-D, Juan Hermida's label, that summer and had a good critical reception.

At the end of that year Munster released a compilation of our first cassette demos with the title "Exprímelo Demos". In early 1990 we recruited Cañete as the new bass player and recorded the album with him.
