Reloading of the recorded assault that changed the world forever

1976 – A bunch of young students decide to develop their cultural interests in the Ateneo Libertario de Mantuano, an old fascist headquarters turned into squat. They share a common interest for sci-fi, futurism, constructivism, dadaism, space, science, etc. Among these adolescents we find Servando Carballar, Alberto Florez, Andres Garcia, Manuel Guio, Arturo Lanz, Alejandro Sacristan.

1978 - Servando & Andres form “Alex y Los Drugos”. Their favourite bands are Stranglers and Blondie. But they soon discover the music of Ultravox, Kraftwerk, Cabaret Voltaire, The Human League, The Residents, Throbbing Gristle, Tubeway Army and Devo. Servando gets himself an electronic organ and with Arturo they form Holoplástico.

1979 - Arturo & Servando put an advertisement in a magazine asking for people who like Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, The Residents, etc (not really common in Spain at that time!). Juan Carlos Sastre (guitar) & Gabriel Riaza (bass) answer and they join the pair. Later will come Andres Noarbe on the drum machine, Manuel Guio and Alberto Florez on voices. They decide to change their name and they choose the now legendary EL AVIADOR DRO Y SUS OBREROS ESPECIALIZADOS (“Aviator Dro and his Skilled Workers”). Their first songs are “Nuclear Sí” and “La Chica de Plexiglás”. They take code numbers: Sincrotrón, Biovac N, 32-32, Multiplexor, Hombre Dínamo, Placa Tumbler...

In the summer of 1979 a new national radio begins its broadcasting in Spain: Radio 3, RNE. Xabier Moreno, from his show, tries to support the scarce national releases. One day he receives an invitation to witness an Aviador DRO rehearse, and he invites them to make a session at the RNE studios. The session is done on the 4 th of October, with six songs recorded. The sound is absolutely unusual for a Spanish band: organ-based electronic pop, synthesizers, drum machines, bass and guitar, with controversial, full of fun lyrics.

The band plays some live shows in black working overalls and protecting glasses for steel works and they shoot flyers to the audience.

1980 – El Hombre Dínamo leaves the band and Derflex Tipo Iarr comes into the drum machine. In their live shows there is no indifference: either people love them or they respond violently, even to the point of physical aggression, such as in Aviles, where they must stop playing under a crystal bottle storming during the song “Nuclear Sí”.

They enter the bands contest “Villa Rock” in Madrid and they win the 3 rd prize. So they sign a record deal with Movieplay, for which they release three singles, with Jesus Gomez on production duties. During the recordings, some members show their disagreement with the band's sound and they leave the band to form Esplendor Geométrico. Movieplay releases their first single “La Chica de Plexiglás”, recorded in Sonoland in August 1980. “La Vision” follows as second single. They are the two first steps of a Spanish avant-punk story that still goes on to this day and that will be endless when clonation is finally a fact.

Now Munster Records releases in a very special DOUBLE SINGLE limited issue these two singles, with three bonus tracks, which are a milestone in Spanish music history. This is, to this day, the more advanced punk music ever done in Spain, period.
